It's just methane off a digester. Old tech really. there's a lot of them installed

How exactly does burning cow dung for fuel help a state reach its "climate goals"?

It actually works pretty good if you have enough fuel.........To make it pay you need at least 1000 cows to generate enough waste to produce @800KW worth of methane. Large dairys are ideal for this installation. SMUD runs a number of sites in that area. The other place you see allot of units installed are on Municipal solid waste plants....Not real big production wise but the "Fuel" is free........

The manure will produce methane on its own just sitting in the feed lot or manure piles, we might as well use it.

I'm just wondering how burning cow dung preserves the "climate". Burning methane produces CO2, which I thought was the ultimate evil for the global warming crowd.

Personally, I think doing this is fine as I'm not concerned about CO2 levels.

Well if you buy into that crap (I don't pun intended) Methane is @ 18 times worse then co2. it's worth alot more if you can trade methane destruction credits compared to CO
