It is only cheap if there is no other way to get electric to your property....or if the cost is too high to bring electric in.

If you want to save money your first action should be to conserve your power usage.

My husband and I live off grid and our solar system cost about $12,000 after we tweaked everything. It would have cost us over 20k to get electric to our house.

Rather than waste bandwidth on a subject that is extensively covered on the web.........

Let me google that for you.

You could also use the C-D search function, this has been discussed numerous times here.

Quick overview of what you are asking? -- you want to use Solar for your house?

And you want to use it for Heat? Such as hot water, or to warm the building?

and/or

You want to use it for electricity?

Or Both?

I think a solar energy is still very popular at the moment. Many specialists say about the future of energy industry. Solar Energy is electromagnetic radiation (including infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light) emitted by thermonuclear reactions in the core of the sun. In a wider sense, solar energy is the source of all energy used by our civilization — with the exception of nuclear or geothermal energy, of course — as its indirect forms include hydroelectricity, ocean thermal energy, tidal energy, and wind energy. The answer is definitely YES; solar panels usually represent a worthy investment. On the other hand, you need to meet two basic requirements: don’t go for the cheap ones, as their efficiency is sometimes closing towards zero, and don’t waste energy unnecessarily. No matter how green the technology you use, there is no need to spend more electricity than necessary. If anything, it saves your money! I would like to recommend one good article about the solar energy. You can check Solar Energy
