I do not believe that a collection of cells which has the potential to become a human baby should be destroyed after fertilization.
Unless the health of the mother which includes her psychological health as well as physical health are in danger, or the health (mental, genetic/physical) of the potential human child is in danger of being born an unhealthy human being.
If I were raped I would want access to abortion. If I knew my unborn child would have considerable genetic defects which would render him/her incapacitated for their lifetime, I would want access to abortion.
Speaking as an ex collection of cells I'm glad my life
wasn't ended because my mother was depressed.
Or worried about gaining weight.
Or what the neighbors might think.
Etc.
Murder is generally defined as the conscious killing of another person - something planned, thought out. A sperm and egg are human genes. Even at their most basic state, those cells are human material, and together they form life. It's a human life, whether is was created from rape, carless promiscuity, or if it's destined to become genetically deformed, aborting it means killing it, and, from a non-objective, factual stance, that equals murder.
Now, my personal belief is all life, no matter how primitive, whether human or not, should be respected. I don't personally believe anyone has the right to kill another person. Through the study of evolution, one learns how extraordinary it is to be a human and for someone to kill another to suffice their own selfish needs is beyond me. It doesn't make sense. The life of another, no matter what "stage" it may be in, should be cherished and cared-for.
To answer the OP's question, I'm a non-Christian and I think abortion is murder.
