Example #1 - Republicans believe in smaller government so as a result those states that are historically conservative or republican should have lower debt ratio's per capita.
Example #2 - Democrats believe that government is a means to cure or help with many social issues such as health care for one example.

Unemployment Rates for States this particular link goes to the unemployment by state. However you can click on Data Tools to see a lot of information regarding employment and labor statistics
