Hey all, I was wondering if anyone thought that a commute from Sparta to Greenville for work was feasible. The reason I ask is because currently my credit isn't hot and therefore I have to settle for having roommates for now, BUT I can't find a place in Sparta, and the closest is Greenville. Also, the people who are going to have me room with them seem pretty cool and like they are willing to let me in to their built in social circle (always a plus since I'm moving from far away). They are about my age.

Now, does this Sparta to Greenville commute seem too long? I recently heard about that horrible 193 car pileup on 94 near Kzoo and was scared of winter driving. So in this case, is Greenville too far? I am looking at jobs in Greenville, but not many in my industry come up. Thanks everyone!

It's about a 30 minute drive each way but would take longer if the roads were snowy/icy. Lots of people in that area commute that far, some less, and some more. Whether or not it's too long is up to you to decide since you'll be the one driving it. My husband drives 2 hours round trip for work and while he would prefer not to, he's okay with it while I would never consider working more than a few minutes from home because I hate driving in the winter. Do you want to drive an hour, round trip, every day and maybe longer during the several months when there's a chance of bad weather? It's certainly feasible if you don't mind doing it.

People commute from Greenville to GR, it's completely feasable, as long as you're ok with spending 30 minutes in a car.

Yeah, are those 30 minutes in bad weather, though? How is Michigan at clearing the roads? I might be taking M-57 to Sparta if that were the case.

How else would you get to Sparta? But yeah, usually Michigan is good at clearing it's roads. In bad weather the commute might be up to 45 minutes.
