Greensboro has a satellite location for St. Mary's Hospital and the Cowles Clinic . Perhaps HR or Acctg jobs? Milledgeville is a little further south of there if you are going I'd suggest you check that out as well - college town. There is a Home Depot up at I20 in Greensboro and I read a new hotel is being built there as well. Local newspaper - Lake Oconee news if that helps. Good luck; pretty area - but small town for sure.

I’m beginning my job search now. We have money saved but I don’t want to blow through it before either of us finds a job there. Thank you so much for this information!

sdenisew, I live in Reynolds after moving here from Cincinnati area. Greensboro is a VERY small town, one main street with restaurants and shops. For someone who has lived in metro areas and was also looking for a slower pace, we found it... It is located halfway between Atlanta and Augusta. Right at the interstate exit for Greensboro there is a Home Depot, some fast food restaurants, an Auto Zone. There is a large Publix grocery store 8 miles from Greensboro near Reynolds, as well as a movie theater. Athens (college town for University of Georgia) is the closet place to Greensboro if you want to shop at Target, Kohls, car dealerships, Best Buy, Homegoods, etc (that type of shopping) it takes us about 45-50 minutes to get there. We do have a fairly new hospital. When we want 'mall-type shopping' we either drive to Atlanta or Augusta, about 70 miles either direction. There are not many employment opportunities in this immediate area. There is a Ritz Carlton hotel on the lake in the Reynolds property. Other contributors have mentioned Madison, they may have more opportunities there for work. It is about 15 miles via the interstate west. Madison is a bigger, 'small town'. They definitely have more in the way of stores, (they have a Walmart, Ingles Groceries) although not like those in Athens, more small shops in the town of Madison. The people here are kind, and respectful and helpful. All of that being said, we are finding that it is very remote, too much so for us. We are going to be leaving in a few months. We love the lake and outdoor activities, the people and our community. It has been nice living here, but it is just not a good fit for us. Hope your visit goes well for you and your husband.
