Unless you enjoy being called a "yankee" 20 times a day.Listening to your redneck coworkers make jokes about the "coloreds" all day and seeing that your kids future lies elsewhere because there are no quality jobs or businesses in the Augusta area. What a disaster down here!

Well I just moved from the south to the north. Don't move to the north if you want to find nooses laying around all the time. Have to pay taxes out the rear and not get the house to go along with those taxes. They don't make any money up here hugging trees. They are not polite at all. They know nothing of other places only what they read.

You know that sounded so harsh after I just read my post. That is not how I normally respond. It has been just as hard on me being north as it has you being south. First I HATE racism in any part of our country. I have a biracial grandson and if anyone ever hurt him they would have to answer to his Nana. Besides racism, a lot of areas of the country are having trouble with jobs, housing and such. You can't go anywhere without being touched by that. I hope that you can make a move that suits you and your family. There is nothing more important than family!!!!!

The Augusta area is only a small portion of a very large state and unfortunately is known for its pre 1970's mentality. I do believe they are trying to correct it, but it is going to take a while. By the way, there will be narrow minded bigots no matter where you live, even up North. The days of high paying non skilled industrial jobs are all but gone. It is cheaper to pay for unskilled labor in other countries and import the merchandise back to the USA and Canada to purchase at the same or higher price. My advice for all working age people is to acquire a marketable skill that has a future and be prepared to move if you have to.

I just don't see that happening in anything except industrial jobs (as I've said, for some reason the majority of Northerners just hate industrial jobs..). Hence, most Southerners in that field are certainly not used to anyone from the North.

Also, you should embrace being a Yankee! There are plenty who are just as proud of being one, just as there are prideful Southerners!
