I am considering a job in north georgia (Blairsville) and am trying to figure where to live. Blairsville is a possible place to live, as would be Hiawasee, Young Harris, or Blue Ridge. But, I am an older person (54 years old), divorced female. I want to be in the mountains and in a place where people are active in outdoors, and good for one to start over in life. I will need to rent a home for a while before I make things permanent. Would any of theses places be a good place? Other suggestions? Thanks, birminghamiantorelocate

I've lived in YH. Have to go to Blairsville or Hiawassee for any shopping or doctors. Short drive. If you work in Blairsville, then that is where I'd choose to live. Doubt you will have any trouble renting until you decide on the area. I think you will be very pleased at the atmosphere and safety of the area. As for activity, much of the social scene is likely with a local church. Very conservative area. Still, I think you will find what you want in time but it could take some time.

My suggestion would be to live in the Blairsville area . The southern corridor of Union County ( Blairsville ) off of Hwy 129 and Hwy 180 ( Choestoe area) offers great access ability to all of those areas. You are just a few minutes from several hiking trails and just down the road from Vogel State Park etc .Plus not to mention it is absolutely beautiful there .

Blairsville or any of the surrounding areas are nice. We just bought a home to retire to in big creek outside of ellijay ga. We love it here. People are down to earth nice wonderful people. We came to this area for 8 years before buying. I feel like I am in Gods country. I feel you will be very Happy in blairsville or the out skirts. Wish you the best.
