Yes, I as well hope this happens, along with the I-3. They would be great for creating Jobs and help economies in the cities affected.

While they're at it, they need to extend the Interstate from Columbus down to Panama City, FL. And renumber I-26; it's a north/south Interstate!

They should also turn GA 316 into I-785.

There already is a an I-26.

Overall alternate Interstates to avoid Atlanta would be good for commerce, travel in general and for these cities that are lack access.

looks like a good idea: it'd connect to I-20 for service into SC, and onwards?

There is a study being conducted on expanding I-185 from Columbus to Tallahassee. That would be huge for the Columbus region. They just finished 4-laning 431 from Columbus to Panama City. Entire stretch is now a 4-lane highway to the beach.

What's the point of I-14? There's no need for an interstate to go to Natchez, MS. There's no point of any of that route beyond Montgomery. Even then, all that is really needed is a connection to Auburn/Opelika at I-85, as it carries on to Montgomery.

I could see a reasonable argument for a connection to Macon with Columbus, as well as a connection between Macon & Augusta. A connection between Savannah and Augusta is also reasonable, perhaps even to I-85 in northeast Georgia, but to Knoxville? Why? Right through the heart of the mountains, destroying the beauty of the area?

The numbering of I-3 is odd. I-3 should be on the west coast, west of I-5. The numbering should be something like I-83.

I don't think that the western end in MS is the point - the point is to connect these cities E-W (which is lacking) and also allows for a major bypass of Atlanta which is desperately needed.

Maybe SC should get on board and have it extended eastward to Charleston along SC 781 and US 78.
