Columbus and Augusta are just like tallahassee. one, they all are 7 miles form their interstate, two columbus and tally has hieght restrictions, three columbus and augusta are by a river, popular ones, tally takes like 50 miles to get to the beach. comment if you've been to all three cities, or researched..... augusta columbus wayy bigger than tallyy

What?
Augusta and Tallahassee both have main interstates going through them from both east and westbound, but Augusta is looped by I-520, while Tallahassee has no such thing. Columbus is at the end of an interstate spur. Not much comparison.

Tallahassee's metropolitan area is 357,259 and Columbus' MSA hasn't even reached 300,000 yet. The city populations of all 3 arent that far separated. How does that equate to Columbus being "wayy bigger than tallyy?"

Tallahassee also "feels" much larger than Columbus. Tallahassee really has more than you would think a metro of 357,000 would have, but it acts as the regional "go to" place for a large swath of South Georgia/North Florida. More shopping, more dining places, etc. It also happens to be a very nice place, in my opinion.

Columbus CSA is pushing 500,000. Lee County, Alabama, (right across the Chattahoochee) is not in the metro yet it has 140,000 people. That is because A/O is on the western part of the county. Keep in mind nearly 30,000 people just moved to Columbus because of BRAC. Numbers are very deceiving for Columbus.

No Columbus is a consolidated city, covers entire county, tally is not. and I mean their downtown is far from interstate. tallahassee has a height restriction for their capital building, while columbus for their city hall, Augusta is a lot bigger than both but for the fact that their major interstate 20 is somewhta far from town they can fit in this category.

The Columbus CSA does have a larger population than the Tallahassee MSA, but IMHO, Tallahassee has a much larger, urban, and cosmopolitan feel to it than Columbus does. Between FSU, FAMU, and TCC, there are roughly 60K college students in Tallahassee. Also considering that the Florida Capital is there, makes a huge difference. IMHO, Tallahassee has more of an urban, cosmopolitan feel to it than a lot of metros of similar size do. As johnatl stated, Tallahassee is the regional hub for a large swath of SW Georgia and the Big Bend Region of Florida. FWIW, Tallahassee is a larger TV market than Columbus is.

I have spent a lot of time in Tallahassee. It does not feel more urban to me at all. It is a nice city though.

Unbelievable.

How could you possibly have spent time in both places and conclude that Tallahassee does not feel more urban?

In all honesty, what are your reasons for this claim? Please don't use the tired "Columbus has a large corporate base" argument. We all know there are several cities that have a "larger corporate base" than some other cities, yet don't feel as large.

Tally has more nightlife, more life downtown, shopping&dining, interstate, etc.
How can it not feel more urban?

Just doesn't IMO.....no more than Columbus or Augusta. Sorry if you don't agree.

Augusta feels more like a city and urban compared to Columbus.. The Medical District in Augusta has a larger skyline than downtown Columbus..
