What are some communities with under 30,000 people would you live in within your metro/region?

Personally, I would probably look at Cortland, Hamilton, Auburn, Canastota and maybe Oswego.

Hamilton, NY, is wonderful -- lots going on, with Colgate located there, nice downtown, friendly people, arts and culture, decent pricing on housing.

I am going to go on a limb and say Durham, NC. It the past 5 years it has really become a juggernaut.

Montclair, NJ is my dream town if I was to ever become wealthy. Its population is nearing 40,000 though.

I live in a municipality under 30k most know as Hershey so I suppose our money is where our mouth is. Plus we're constrained by my wife's commute to the same town.

Camp Hill Borough and South Middleton Twp are other communities in the Harrisburg metro where I might specifically choose to live constrained by my current job location and income. Maybe Middletown Borough, or around Duncannon or Marysville. But as I said I'm constrained by my wife's commute.

My area has all small cities. My favorites would be Bandon,Coos Bay, North Bend or Florence. All are on the coast of Oregon.

I'm from the Charleston area, and I'd enjoy Kanawha City "within city limits" but it has its own personality
