Great quiz!
It says I have Northern (Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo). As I grew up in the Cleveland areaand have lived in the Detroit area for 20 years this makes absolute sense.
It says neutral and that I probably moved around a lot growing up. I grew up in Columbus, GA lived in the same house for 17 years. I don't have a strong southern accent but I tend to speak a bit of southern slang like "fixin' to do such and such" saying "windah" instead of "window" saying "thank yall" if thanking more than one person. But this accent only comes out when I'm relaxed or talking with friends. If I don't know you I'm not giving you the accent. So when people first meet me they say "Oh wow you're from Georgia? Where's your accent?" Then once they get to know me the same folks will poke fun when I say something southern like "fixin' to".
Anybody else have the same here today gone tomorrow accent? I think a lot of actors and radio people have that but they're trained to lose their accent. I was never trained.
Residing in mid-Illinois, I probably have a fairly neutral accent with tinges of midland southern speak. I probably sound a bit southern to people in Chicago and north and "yankee" to people in Kentucky and points further south.
Dirty Soouutthh. I think this one was a little bit more accurate than the others because it actually got it correct. My accent isn't the strongest but it's still there.
This quiz said I have a "Neutral" American accent. I was born in New York, lived in Long Island until age 7 and then have been living in Southern California for 32 years. So, I guess that might make sense.
I have a Northern accent which makes sense because I lived in Chicago longer than any of my other 6 states.
