I miss living in the greater Madison, WI region great access to numerous natural amenities, great parks, local shops and businesses. I also miss the greater Concord, NH capitol region and nearby Lakes Region, high quality of life area. I do not miss Kansas City region in the least, very overrated, much too spread out, and absurdly hot and humid in the summer.
Can be one city in particular, or many cities, that you once lived in and you miss. What are those cities? And what do you miss about them?
Chicago was wonderful. I miss the winters, the summers, the big city feel, the theater shows, the pier and riverwalk, the people were just regular and down to Earth, and the food was amazing.
Went to college there as well. Would have to agree. Stayed there a few years after graduation because I liked it so much. Tucson takes a beating on here because people look at stats and don't get a true picture of what it is like, or they have driven through on I-10 and have a bad impression. But with the saguaros and the mountains surrounding town it is pretty magical.
It was such a culturally rich city, too. The geography surrounding it is absolutely magical, and just so close to the city, and with stunning views.
I like the fact that Tucson is relatively against fast-growth and development, and wants to maintain a lot of their in-city 1970s/1980s quieter feel.
But yeah, driving on I-10, you learn nothing and see nothing about what the city really is about.
Mi Nidito, Sausage Deli, The Shanty, O'Malley's and Mike's Place were college go-to's that I miss to this very day.
Corpus Christi: Low COL, great Mexican food.
Tyler: southern charm
Austin: Loved how young and dynamic it felt. Great restaurants. Nice people. but the city is exhausting now.
Clemson: southern charm and college atmosphere
DC: Loved how international and diverse it was. 4 seasons. Foliage cherry blossoms
Denver: Friendly people, sharp 4 seasons, foliage.
Seattle: There's something about dark skies and cool temperatures that make me feel relaxed.
All of the places I've lived have been great to me.
