Interesting, but disappointed that it doesn't show where the foreign born residents from each metro emigrated from.
Well, I can name some of them for you.
Miami-Cuba, PR, other Caribbean
San Jose, LA, SD, SF, El Centro, El Paso, Yuma, Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Riverside, Bakersfield-Mexico, Nicaragua, and El Salvador mostly, but mainly from Mexico and Central America, just those countries more than others.
It shows that DC metropolitan is at 19.9%, just under 20%. It just barely didn't make the cut of 20.0% or higher list that was provided by the OP.
The thing about DC metro is that there is a smaller percentage of foreign born residents in the area, but that portion is very mixed with different nationalities.
Honestly, while DC has a large hispanic population (usually the largest foreign born population in any American city), it's not as overwhelming as many of the cities listed above.

Not sure about the others.
I wanted to know more about actual figures and percentages, but thank you.
Only one I could find cus I didn't feel like looking through all of them. I'm surprised Calexico isn't on there, unless they consider it part of El Centro.
I never knew this, but Wiki says that San Jose has the highest population of Vietnamese people in America.

I think thats from the old 2000 census. I was interested in the original post because it is fairly recent data from 2005. I know that the US Census Bureau brought out overall population and demographic estimates in subsequent years after 2000, but I don't know if they delved into it too deeply.

Other than NYC, these places foreign born residents are predominantly Mexican/Hispanic. This list isn't made to point out where they're from though. That would be a completely different story.
