Which cities have the most unique and different feeling compared to the rest of it's state/other cities in it's state. Different political beliefs, different way of life, ect.
For example the culture difference between Miami and Florida is way more prevalent than the culture difference between Portland and Oregon in my opinion. What are your thoughts?

PS I'm just using Miami as an example.

New York City and the rest of New York State has to be up there. Most folks don't realize how very, very, VERY different most of upstate is from downstate. Most places you could easily mistake for farm country, some declining mill town in the South, or a Midwest rust belt city rather than the glitz and glamour of Manhattan or even the relative wealth of NYC suburbs.

I'd say the difference in NY is as big as the difference with Atlanta vs Georgia, Miami vs Florida, or Chicago vs Illinois.

Every city is going to look different from a rural area but Philadelphia vs PA Amish country would be one of the biggest cultural divides.

Yes, subtract out the STL metro area and Missouri becomes a southern state for the most part with only a few "Midwest islands."

It would seem that having KCMO would moderate things a bit, especially compared to the divide that exists between Chicago and Illinois and Atlanta and Georgia.

Not at all, Missouri would still have a major metro in Kansas City.
