I love to game Red Dead Redemption and I would like to go on vacation somewhere that resembles the location the game takes place in. Could anyone offer any suggestions about what states the developers were likely trying to capture?

Yeah it is sort of a blend of places. The southern US state is arizona/new mexico/texas/utah, and the northern one is the mountain areas of colorado/wyoming with the plains areas of nebraska/kansas.

Yeah, the cacti are definitely modeled after the saguaros in Arizona and they're pretty indiginous to that location. The second picture down looks like it could be a 3d generated image of Saguaro NP. I mostly see a resemblance to that region of the country (Tuscon area); but I see some elements of Colorado, Utah and Texas in there.
