I'm a 26 yr old single female and looking to move somewhere with plenty to do and meet new people. I'm a pharmacist (hospital pharmacist, NOT retail) looking to move from Louisiana to Austin. I've never been to Austin but plan to take a couple trips this year.

I want to live somewhere safe and convenient to parks and shopping. I'm not really into clubbing or do a lot of partying, but I do want some nightlife. I would like to spend less $1000 on rent but I can afford a little more if i have to (I realize i probably will have to). I also ride horses so close proximity to a good barn would be nice. I've started looking online at the different neighborhoods and I'm still not sure what part of Austin to really consider.

I'm also considering living north of Austin(Cedar Park, Round Rock, Pflugerville). How convenient are they to downtown Austin? And what's the demographics of these areas?

Any help/advice would would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You should post on the Austin board (under the Texas board heading). I'm sure you'll get a lot of input there. My brother and my mom live in Austin (well, mom lives in Kyle, south of Austin). Traffic is a bear, no matter how you slice it. That's why home prices and rents are so high the closer you get to the city center. Definitely take a trip out there during the week and test-drive your potential commute before you decide on an area.
