What is your preference sprawled cities or dense cities. I personally like sprawled cities but with a little bit of urban mixed in. I like having a big house and yard, but also be able to walk to a neighborhood market if I need to.

Just look at any forum that isn't City Vs. City, urban planning or General U.S. and you'll find plenty who likes sprawl.

I like a mixture of both. A nice sized house with a decent yard and some distance from neighbors or smaller apartments, but with several walkable areas with business up against the street. Roads are built to be more pedestrian friendly, and the major arterial roads bypass major pedestrian areas. The ability to choose between car and public transportation, preferably light rail.

I like good density at the core with enough elbow room surrounding it and little urban nodes in between. Denver, Portland, and Seattle have a good balance of urban/suburban fabric. They're walkable cities with enough elbow room for comfort.
