How is NYC safer when it has a higher violent crime rate though?

NYC (and LA, Boston, Philly for that matter) have very impressive property crime rates but LA is truly remarkable with a violent crime rate less than 500.

We get it, you have a hard on for the West Coast.

You brought up Skid Row, which is in DTLA. I simply pointed out that East Coast cities do not have dangerous areas in their Downtowns like LA or SF. Yes, areas of Brooklyn, South Boston and North Philadelphia are definitely more dangerous than Skid Row or the Tenderloin, but not to visitors. It's easy for a visitor to walk into the Tenderloin and run into trouble do to it's close proximity to the tourist attractions in SF. It's rare a visitor to Philly has any reason to wander into North Philadelphia or a visitor to NY has any reason to wander into the Bronx or Bed Stuy, Brooklyn.

You get my point?

There are worse areas in LA itself than Skid Row like South Central, Watts, Compton, Inglewood, Long Beach, etc.

I did not change the thread lol. You brought up Skidrow. I simply pointed out that for a Downtown, that's a worse area than you'll find anywhere in an East Coast Downtown. You're comparing something in DTLA to areas of cities miles from East Coast Downtowns. Doesn't really make sense when LA has worse areas outside of Downtown like the ones I mentioned above that could be comparable to North Philly, Bronx, Brooklyn, Southeast DC, etc.

Exactly my point. No visitors go to Compton or Watts, just like no visitors go to Bed Stuy or North Philly. Therefore these areas are more comparable. Comparing Skid Row to areas outside of East Coast Downtowns is cherry picking really.
