Hi CD forum members. My name is Elijah, I'm 21, and I specialize in logistis and freight management. I am libertarian at the federal level as I believe most cultural and social issues oughta be left up to the states and especially its respective localities. I am very politically involved as I do not want to see America fall like the Roman Empire or more recently the Russian empire. I am a Rand Paul/Mike Lee/Ted Cruz Constitutional Conservative and I hope to move to a place where lying, cheating, and stealing aren't the norm; although I'm aware this happens everywhere.
My main criteria is as follows:
At least 50% conservative, conservative as in fiscal policy and respect for civil liberties.
Ideally the place should be heavily involved in logistics and trucking.
Preferably sunny winters, Chicago is very bi-polar weather-wise and Lake Michigan is useless for the majority of the year
Down to earth, friendly people, who aren't all about keeping up with the Jones. Folks who know how to have fun and live in the moment. (This can also be found anywhere, although some places more than others.
Easy and cheap access to hunting and fishing. Sailing and rock climbing are also a few of my hobbies.
Farmer's market.
Clean air
Not overly progressive.
I have a few places in mind, just wanted to see if anyone could throw out some suggestions before I throw out mine and ask for your input.
Louisiana has very mild winters and is known as the Sportsman's Paradise. The humidity there really stinks, though. Big time outdoor culture there from hunting to fishing. Low cost of living, too.
I think you would like OK. I loved my time in OK and if I decide to get out of the Army before retiring, it would be to Edmond, OK.
Austin is becoming more and more liberal.
As a native Chicagoan myself, I can say for sure that you will definitely love the winters outside of the north. I love Minnesota as well but their brutal winters wouldn't let me live there.
I went to Austin expecting big things but the city itself is overrated and is getting overcrowded with progressive Californians who want to make Austin the liberal paradise that California was before it went bankrupt and became the land ofmthe haves and have nots. Let's make sure we're serious about securing our borders which is the proper role for the Federal Government or the Texas will turn into the next California with minorities aligning themselves with the Democratic progressive socialist party. The hill country does have some spectacular areas but they are not that close nor easily accessible to Austin. I'd much rather settle in Houston and visit Austin.
