Boston's Macy's company is not the one everyone knows about today. It was a different venture by the same guy who went on to establish the Macy's department store in NYC in 1858.
Well, they were both named Macy's and created by the same guy...
And while it's true that the Haverhill location closed pretty quickly, I think it could still be argued that Macy's began there...
I'd also add Converse, Gilette, and Hood to my list, and maybe TD bank if you REALLY want to stretch it...
