Tara Thornton sounds absolutely nothing like a typical black woman from Louisiana. Many of the other characters' accents and general portrayal of southerners are pretty corny as well.
Everybody that I know from Louisiana HATES how they talk on True Blood.
Honestly, I've never heard a southern black accent accurately portrayed by any actor who wasn't actually from the south. In fact, they always butcher it.
Question: is there a state or region you guys associate with "Southern belle" accents?
My friend wants me to play one in a web series he's doing. It's no big deal but I'm a perfectionist and would like to make it sound accurate if I can.
Videos would be helpful so I can hear the difference too.
