Brooklyn is one of the 5 boroughs of City of New York. It is about the size of Chicago population wise. Before the merger into what would become NYC, Brooklyn was an independent city and one of the oldest cities in the country (Brooklyn is older than Philadelphia or Providence). At the time of the merger into NYC, Brooklyn was the 4th largest city in the country.
