Is carrying a handgun, pistol, or rifle openly in public legal anywhere in the US? Have there been proposals in your state to allow this, with or without a permit?

People walk around wearing guns in my state all the time. I don't think they need to do anything except buy the gun. They just passed a law saying you can take your gun into bars now(AZ).

A majority of States allow open carry in some form or another. Only a handful don't.

Yes and I hate it. Most of the people wearing guns are thuggish looking and makes me very uncomfortable.
Businesses can keep people from coming in with guns if they post a sign at the entrance saying no.
I only know of one or two that have such a sign.

It should be legal in all 50 states, especially since the US Constitution provides citizens the right to keep and bear arms. I don't understand how you can legally bear arms without legal open carry.

If I lived somewhere where I needed to worry about this, I would get the hell out. There's too many people out there that view their gun as a penis extension.

Open carry is legal in Wisconsin. It sounds like you have not been worried so far.

I think it's very VERY difficult to do in California. But, obviously things are different here than in other states with gang violence and what not. Things like the LA Riots and the North Hollywood Shootout I can only imagine made it EVEN more difficult to acquire such a license in California.

You do not need a license for open carry. You might be thinking of concealed carry.
