Golden Colorado is a lovely suburb of Denver but feels like a small town. We have a vibrant downtown. USA pro cycle race goes through here. We have monthly family big-tire tours around town (200 bikes with kids and costumes) each month-a gas. We have a river that runs through town (Clear Creek) around which are parks, history parks (with chickens), rec center, library, history museum, sculptures etc. Really family friendly and MUUUCH more affordable than Boulder or California (still expensive compared to midwest). Lots are smaller but living is bigger. We have beautiful mountain trails in multiple directions one mile from our house. We are a mile from the central strip. The trails in our town are world class and this is backyard. The best bit (I think) is that we are 20 minutes from Boulder and 20 minutes from downtown Denver. We go weekly to Boulder Farmers market (we have our own but we are foodies and we like Boulder's better. Families may like to puppets, horse carriages and entertainment better in Golden). I get my hair done in Denver-easy peasy. Parades, outdoor movie nights, art fairs, environmental movie festivals.... the list goes on. Every other business in Golden is a bike store. You'll have fun.
