This is the only metropolitan population list/ranking that matters.

Table of United States primary census statistical areas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No.

It is the primary census statistical area.

This can be the MSA or the CSA--it all depends on what is the primary census statistical area for a metropolitan area.

For example:

For Miami, Phoenix, San Diego, and Tampa-St. Pete...it is the "MSA".

For San Francisco/Bay Area, Houston, and Washington-Baltimore...it is the "CSA".

Of course, who knows if the Census will change CSA's and MSA's with the 2010 numbers? If some of the faster growing areas add counties, they could leap frog some of the slower growing areas. It will be interesting to see.

My county is not in any of these. When you go to the state map page, it is one of several that says "none".

I knew I lived no where.

Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-West Palm Beach needs to be a CSA. It wasn't before 2000. WPB and all of PB County was it's own metro before that year. But it was COMBINED in 2000 but yet they say it is just one MSA.

I like this list, much more useful and representative on the areas in question.

If it was the only list that mattered then why do we have other lists?

Oh and it's wikipedia which makes it matter less. Go check your page now.
There was a mass exodus from NY
