It gets to you mentally, but the heat got to me physicially.

try 9 months of overcast, where for 1 month long, you will never, ever see the sun, then out of the blue, some random day in the winter, the sun barely pops up for 5 minutes, then its another month of no sun a all. If the PNW had 6 months of sun, and 6 months of overcast, i can take it better. but the only reason I am here is because I can survive here, I was born and raised in boston and cost of living is way too much there.

when I was in boston, at least during the winter times, the sun reflects the snow, and my eyes open up. here, for 9 months, my eyes never open up, and i have sleeping problems due to it, as my body dont know when is day or night. and yes, I have a light box, but it dont work after a while. The economy in seattle is not as hard hit as other areas, thats why i still have a job and at least i am not struggling too bad financially, I will take this over being in a good weather area but I am on the verge of homelessness because of the cost of living (places such as hawaii)

Another day of no sunshine AT ALL. So sick of it. The sun kinda came out yesterday for the first time in awhile. We couldn't actually see the sun but could see blue sky and brightness. That lasted for an hour than the grey came back. It almost makes the grey worse, cause after a couple of weeks of pure grey skies you kind of get a little desensitized to it. You don't realize you feel depressed. Its kind of like a load you get used to carrying around, day after day, then someone lifts it for an hour and you feel such relief, then they give it back and you realize how heavy it is.

Then I checked the extended forecast and really no relief for another ten days.

YUP... makes phoenix feels like heaven right?

when I see my co workers and family, even though some of them dont havae SAD, i can tell that during the summer time they have more energy and do more things during the day, then go home and sleep. during winter when its drizzling and overcast, its either stay home, go to the mall, or maybe a casino/restaurant.

The Bay Area in California had great weather. 300+ days of sun and not a drop of rain for 9 months a year. Sunny and 85 every day from March-November was the norm. The downside is a $1.3M average home price in the town in which I grew up. I'm in the process of moving to Las Vegas as we speak. I have spent a large amount of time in the desert and enjoy it. Avg. temperature in July is around 105. The lack of humidity in the desert at 3000 feet is refreshing to me compared to a 95 degree New England day with 100% humidity. But Vegas still has triple digit heat for months on end. Perfect for me, but maybe a bit extreme for you. Perhaps NE California, north of Tahoe would suit you?
This sounds awful to me. I need variety and seasons, which basically means I have to tolerate cold and snow in the winter. I think I have found a place that is as close to perfect for me as it can get. It can get hot in the summer, but without the high humidity and also without the almost non-existent humidity levels that would irritate me. It cools down at night. Fall is awesome...cool, crisp, sunny. Winter isn't too bad. It's usually quite sunny and while it can get very cold and windy (sub zero temps/windchills aren't uncommon), it doesn't stay that way for weeks on end. We regularly get winter temps in the 40's & 50's. We can get a lot of snow (except the last couple years), but it doesn't stay on the ground for months at a time.

I do wish we got more rain in the spring and fall, and I REALLY miss the good thunderstorms in Tornado Alley. We are in a drought and wildfires are always a concern (and I'd be lying if I said I love the wind), but overall I love the weather here. The good outweighs the bad.

Yesterday it was wonderful...blissful sunshine and blue skies. Got so excited that I actually went out and used some of the tax return to buy a new lawnmower. LOL Imagine my excitement today when I woke up and saw that it's going to be nice again today....well, MOSTLY nice today. Hope the fog burns off on the coast, early enough to dry that grass out. Gosh it would be nice to get the lawn mowed before it's 12" tall. Hope it's sunny where you're all at. I know, it can get pretty dreary. Please get out there early today...because the next 10 days doesn't look too good!

LOL.... We're definitely still socked in with fog here, too Civic. Even the cars, which are only 25 ft away from my window, are hazy to look at. It's pretty darn thick, out here on the coast. I just hope it dries out enough to test the new lawn mower today. LOL

I was born and raised in Michigan. Then I moved to Arizona for school. Initially I really loved living in AZ and the heat didn't bother me. Then after about six years there I was so sick of the summers that dragged on until November, no joke. Have you considered looking at northern sunbelt cities. I agree with the other posters you may have to have more than one season.

I'm in trouble. I don't like it too hot or too cold. I don't like it too cloudy or too sunny. I like a frost. I don't like tornadoes. I don't like humidity. I like trees. I like not having to worry about a drought. I'm screwed.

We moved to Tennessee to be near my wifes dad when his life was ending. We ended up spending 4 1/2 years and finally left. We hated the heat/humidity. The only place we could get away from it was in our house. I hated showering and you were sweating again by the time I got toweled off and was putting on my clothes.
