I am starting to think about this myself now. I have no desire to take ALL my stuff, especially since much of it is old and was hand-me-downs. I only have 2 big items that I need to figure out getting there.

I am not fond of trying to drive a big moving truck myself. As of right now, my plan is to pack what I can into my trunk (backseat reserved for the cat carriers, to be securely buckled in) and ship other stuff like clothes.

:::nods::: I'm thinking the same way. I will be driving a small car (VW Beetle) and will be transporting pets so not much room for "stuff."

I am really doing a major purge. I'll be having a garage sale and will throw out or donate everything I cant sell.

I have even started to rethink some of the stuff I was going to keep...like my dishes. I REALLY like them, but would it be worth the shipping to risk them all broken at the end? I may just use it as an opportunity to get new. I have had them almost 15 years.

Believe in the power of the universe! Free yourself. And it will all come back...I promise. Don't let clutter own you. It is just stuff...

Absolutely agree. If you havent used it in a year, you probably dont need it. As for things that have sentimental value...well, the memories are in your head, NOT in the "stuff."

I also recommend doing decluttering a little at a time. Trying to tackle all at once is overwhelming (especially if there is lots of memories revived) and will be very difficult to complete. Set a goal to do one closet today or this week, then another area next week. Then once you have gone through everything, go through it again! Once you get in the mindset of getting rid of stuff, you might decide some of the stuff you wanted to keep the first time around can now go.
