I just discovered that twin girls were born into our family in 1903, and likely adopted out. Divorce papers say that the twin girls, born in January, 1903 to Lizzie B Allen and Robert D Mitchell, died within a week of birth; however, there are birth records found, but no death records. Their births were registered without first names, surname Mitchell. Their mother, although married, was living with her parents, Jason W Allen and Margaret Maguire Allen. Looking for suggestions as well as information.

Reason: need to add sex of babies for identification
It is possible that they died and there was no death certificate or register. Places were usually required to register deaths, but sometimes it didn't get done. Perhaps you can check a site like Find A Grave and see if you can find a burial for them.
mlmguler...Don't know if this will help..if you go to sc-democrat.com, on the left side, you'll see Sullivan Cty historian..with his website. I'm originally from Monticello, but left 6 yrs ago, so if I think of anything that may help, I'll post it. Good Luck
