My cucumber plants are growing really well, over 5 feet tall now. But all plants have a lot of male flowers, very few female flowers. Since only female flowers will product the cucumbers, I have not harvest much yet. Is this the normal growing process?
All my cucumbers are loaded with fruit and just a few male flowers. It has not gone above 78º here on the north coast of California and has stayed humid. The soil I planted mine is is last years compost, so not too rich. Maybe your soil is too rich or the weather has been too hot.

Thanks.
Are they Burpee Burpless? I think they are good pollenators but you have to plant other varieties along with them in order to get female flowers. Burpee did a poor job of making this clear. I personally like the pikeling cucumbers because they are crisper and aren't only for pickles.
