I'm trying to figure out if what looks like a curry tree in my back yard is indeed a curry tree. Are there trees that have the same type of leaf structure?
Do curry leaves have a scent? The leaves on this tree in my back yard have NO scent at all.

I had one as a houseplant for awhile, and it never got very big before I pitched it. I seem to remember the leaves gave off a fragrant scent when crushed. I think curry leaves have more pairs of leaflets than i see on your leaf. That is a compound leaf, and those leaflets also look too big to be from a curry tree, but then I've only read about them. We can't grow them outdoors here.

Look up the name Murraya koenigi, the proper botanical name. See if your tree has all the characteristics of that tree. Have you seen any blooms? Even my little houseplant bloomed the second year, so if yours is curry, it should produce clusters of those airy white blooms.

By the way, the Murraya isn't a very big tree, only 6-15 ft according to the Missouri Botanical Gardens website:

Murraya koenigii - Plant Finder

Here is a very good image of the leaves and the blooms:

You can also take a sample of the leaf and some photos of your tree to your local county Extension office for a definitive ID.
