It was 16 years old..........

We just cut it down......

We want to plant a fairly mature "fast growing" tree.....

I know not all "fast growers" are good....I'd love another Ash.....But I don't wanna worry about those insects again.....

Does anyone know a tree that will not have those shallow roots and grows fast??

HELP!!!

See if Eastern Redbud will grow in your area. It's a nice little tree.

Here's a photo:

I have to replace my ash tree, as well, and that's its replacement.

How about a sycamore? The bark is beautiful and it's a fast growing tree that does well in the north.

Most oaks will do fine. Their leaves are tougher than that of the ash, but they are sturdy and long-lived. Sycamores fall into the same category and have beautiful mottled bark.

The ash tree is basically doomed because of the ash borer. The borer will do to the ash what Dutch Elm Disease did to the elms and chestnut blight did to the American chestnut.
