Are these coupon apps just for certain types of phones? What phones won't they work for? I have a more basic phone(Verizon Samsung Smooth) but it has a GPS feature.

They're coupon apps. Coupons that you can use for store purchases instead of regular paper coupons.

I don't use an app, but I have signed up for mobile deals at a few stores. Target, for instance, sends me a mobile coupon about every 10 days or so. It's good for a number of deals and the cashier can scan it right from my phone (hand her the phone and she runs the phone over the store scanner). Also, RedBox sends me at least one free movie rental code a month.

I never think to take coupons with me, but I ALWAYS have my phone. I would like to see more discounts available this way. Target even texts me when the coupons are about to expire. Paper ones can't do that

Is signing up at a particular store the way you get these coupons? Did you sign up at the Target Website? I'd like some from Kroger and Ingles coupons since I shop there the most. Back to my original question, will any phone do?

I honestly dont remember where I signed up for Target coupons, I assume there is a way to do so on their website. I've been getting coupons from there for about 3 years.

I think you need a smart phone for the coupons to display because they are web based; at least the Target ones are. Other places (like RedBox and Gordman's) send me a code to use at checkout so it wouldn't need to be a smart phone.

Alright since I don't have a smart phone I guess I'll need to find the stores and companies that offer the codes.

I have a iPhone 4S. Which app do actually work at the stores so they can just scan my phone and get a discount?

I use the Quick Scan app but that just gives you the price and they won't match the lowest one.

There are many coupon apps for iPhone and Androids. If you have an iPhone you can easily get them for free from iTunes store. I just searched for coupon apps and got the following free apps:
The Coupons App, Groupon, Coupons.com, Living Social, Coupons and Shop and a number of more. Enjoy!
