What's this I hear about a ski resort coming to Fort Worth in 2009? I saw the story clip on TXCN last night, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I'm not sure if there's already been a thread on this or not, but if you Dallasites (or whatever they call you guys lol) could please fill me in on the details. This is probably going to be moved to the Ft. Worth forum, but whatever. Answer if you know.

Moderator cut: website

Lots of naysayers. It's so early in the process (land not being procured even) that it's hard to tell how serious the developers are. I'd love to see it though - I would certainly go a couple times a year just to keep brushed up. Bet a lot of people would get nasty colds... haha - 100 degrees to below freezing in 50 feet. Hehe.

I heard it was like skiing on carpet. The people interviewed on WFAA weren't so impressed by it either.

Dallas has the proposed indoor golf ranges as well. Those should be interesting.

I heard about it and was thinking, okay???? We already had one ski hill here in the Dallas area a few years ago over in Addison. Even w/ this manmade snow I don't see how it can be too fun to ski on. Is it going to be a different type of manmade snow than they already use on the real ski mountains? The land is under contract but who knows. It is supposed to be over 500 acres. There is also a big new indoor waterpark being built in Grapevine by the Gaylord.

Japan has something pretty cool though. An indoor ocean and beach, Ocean Dome.

Now ain't that special. They build a synthetic ocean, not a half-mile from the real thing!

I thought that was rather ironic myself. LOL!!! However I'm thinking this would be a nifty idea around here. Only thing then is it would REALLY make Texas that much better than California as we would ALSO have the pristine beach.

I did not see any of the boats pulling the people on the banana's or parachutes?

Default CoolZone WinterPlex

Here's a link to their site.

http://www.winterplex.com/ (broken link)

It's supposed to be similar to a "ski resort" that was built in Dubai not too long ago. This was announced almost two years ago but now it seems that an actual site has been found north of Fort Worth in southern suburban Denton County.
