We are relocating to Texas after visiting Austin it’s off our list to much traffic, so now it’s on to Dallas and Fort Worth. My husband works from home so commute not a issue.
We will have our Youngest child who will be going to High school next year and loves to play sports. Our housing
Budget is up too 500k. We are relocating from souther California and we have two older children in private universities in Texas who will visit often. Looking for similar areas to our old area. But excited to have some space. We want the nicest view from our house that is possible. So if you could where would you live and why. Love great restaurants, shopping, movies theaters and love to be outdoors when weather permits also love being social club with amenities is important to me and it’s a good way to make new friends and we are very conservative and so happy that Ted Cruz won! We are in our late 40’s. We love Texas each time we have visited and the people and the culture and can’t wait to relocate!
Thank you in advance

Dallas isn't much better than Austin traffic wise.

Its a little outside of DFW but perhaps look into Pecan Plantation near Granbury. Its sort of a country club type neighborhood. Granbury has a pretty nice town square with shops and restaurants. Its also near some very nice parks and has more of a rolling hills type terrain. DFW is pretty flat.

In DFW I would look at Southlake, Flower Mound, Keller, or Aledo if you want a little more rural setting.

Unfortunately, Southlake isn't possible with your price range unless you get one of the "villa" patio homes in Carrillon.

Aledo would definitely be my suggestion. It also has the rolling hills and the schools there have a fantastic reputation (much better than Granbury schools).

What sort of high school are interested in? Public or private? IB? Dual college/high school credit? Which sports are important? How big do you want the high school to be?

View is tough here.
I normally tell people looking at houses, that expect to see the back of a wood fence....that's our view.

And once in a very rare time do I see a house with any kind of a view. Occasionally Highland Village. Maybe Argyle. Maybe Roanoke....Ponder...Justin....maybe somewhere between Weatherford and Azle?

Want new or preowned? How big of a yard do you want? What city are you in now? Want a big or smaller high school?

Do you need to be in the big city or is somewhere around DFW acceptable?

Check out the Carroll ISD boundary map and focus in on the small portion of Northwest Grapevine that is in Carroll ISD. Homes will come on the market in your range. Most of the lots will be small but the homes are of a decent square footage. You would be near the Lake Grapevine, parks, trails, Downtown Grapevine and Southlake Town Center.

Hint.... Look near the intersection of Kimball and Dove.

Also, houses do come on the market in Southlake in the $500k range but they are usually considered tear down homes by the elite that live in the area. They are generally smaller homes (1800-2500 sq ft) built in the late 70s through the early 90s that are situated a 1 acre lot. If you are willing to live in a smaller and most likely un-updated home, you can sneak into Southlake proper for ~$500k.
