Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone on here knew about how long it takes to commute to downtown Fort Worth from Denton. I live right off I35W, so I can get on the freeway in 5 mins or less. Then from reading on here on previous threads, I know that it is usually full speed ahead until you get to around alliance airport and the 170 alliance gateway. After that, I know it can be brutal sometimes. I have never done this drive in the mornings or evenings during the week, so I am hoping someone can give me some advice on how long it will take. Will need to be at work between 7:30-8. Relocating to an area closer in is not an option and it will only be for about 6 months. I also worried about winter conditions and driving. Just moved to Texas from California and know nothing about winters here. My main concern is driving in snow a lot especially in January and February. When do winter conditions begin here and when do they stop? Any help is appreciated!

Having previously lived in FW for over 15 years I'd say at least 1.5 hrs to make it all the way downtown. I never commuted that way some I'm curious what others may say.

Uh, snow won't be a problem in DFW. Aside from the occasional ice storm, we hardly ever get white stuff here. You have to go a lot further north (Kansas) to see snow on a regular basis.

Allow at least 1.5 hours each way for that commute. You have my sympathies, because its really going to suck.

Thanks for the info. Glad to know that snow won't be a problem although it sounds like this won't be a fun commute even in the best weather conditions lol.

They get snow in OKC not much in DFW...I used to live in Denton and went to Ft Worth quite a bit. I generally made it in a hour or less one way

That is going to be a killer commute, especially with the construction.

When I was in college in FW, I had a boyfriend who lived in Denton and it took me over an hour.....and that was 14 years ago....I can't imagine the drive now with all the construction and traffic. Good luck, I wouldn't want to be in your situation.

Hubby commutes from Saginaw to Denton and makes it in about 40mins. There are times he has to go from Denton to the hospitals in Fort Worth and that usually takes him an hour or so. However, his commute is usually a couple hours prior to the official rush hour around here, so he tends to avoid a lot of the traffic

do you have to live in Denton?
I-35 is not a good commute once you get into Roanoak area and will get worse because of construction...
377 parallels I 35 but it is two lane and has lot of traffic--once it gets into Keller it is beast...
