Any out-of-town guests I've ever taken to the Stockyards in Fort Worth have always been impressed. I know a lot of people from here dismiss it as cheesy and touristy, but it has a pretty broad appeal. There are a handful of good restaurants in the area and you can probably catch live music after dark at the bars on the west side of Main St.

The Stockyards are the CLOSEST thing to that you will see.
Keep in mind, Fort Worth is still a major city and you really wont see anything authentically "country" here. You'd actually have to leave the city for that.
I mean, you'll see a handful of horses and cow pastures here and there, but that's it.

I wonder if there are any cute honky tonk, line dance type of places. Maybe a trip to Lubbock or San Antonio would have more western attractions?

I think there's still a Cowboys in Arlington and they just opened that massive Toby Keith restaurant/bar/music hall near 35E and Northwest Hwy.
