My husband & I currently live in Northeast Pa & are looking into relocating to another area, somewhere with a better ecomomy, affordable housing & warmer weather. We are considering Alrington/Fort Wort/Austin. We have never been to Texas but we both know people who live there & love it. We have done some research & a lot of places in Texas seem to be what we are looking for. Can anyone give me some advice or opinions about the areas I have listed?? We are looking for suburban type area, good economy, not secluded, lots to do, good schools & safe neighborhoods. We are both in our late 20s & no kids. He is a veteran & looking for something in law enforcement & I am going to school to be a LPN. Thanks!!

Make sure your LPN school credit will transfer before you move. Many LPN schools here are private and will not accept other schools' credits. You also might be better off to finish your LPN program and get your license, then come down here. I'm pretty sure PA is a compact state so it will transfer easily.

Southwest Arlington might be of interest to you. I've lived here since '78 and I love it. The community is vital and inviting. There are many community activities going on. The shopping is good and it's like small town living but you can drive 10 miles and be in Ft. Worth or 20 miles and you are in Dallas. We have several police officers who live in the area. The schools are good. The highway system is close by. There is a good rec center and a couple of parks. It's middle class with a few areas that are upper class. Univ. of Texas at Arlington is right down the road and so are two Tarrant County College campuses. We are also very close (15 min) to the hospital district.

I like Southwest Arlington, too. The homes are affordable. Lots of nice big trees. A couple in their 20's without kids could find it a bit dull, however.
