My wife and I just returned from beautiful SW Florida. It was a great trip, we acquired a wealth of information. We do however, still have a few questions...

Can anyone give me an idea on the cost of flood insurance in SE or SW ?

What is the deal with parking trucks in the driveway? Are SUV's OK?

Is the electricity a co-op? Is it any more expensive than anywhere else in Florida? We had a friend that lived in Lakeland and complained of outrageous elec. bills due to co-op.(between 400-500 a month for 1500 sf home)

Flood insurance is issued by the federal govt thru FEMA. The website is...

FEMA: The National Flood Insurance Program

Trucks are fine in your driveway. Once upon a time it was a "code violation" but that ordinance was voted out of existence ten or so years ago. It is still a violation to park a "commercial vehicle" in your residential driveway, i.e. anything with commercial lettering on the body of the vehicle. No problem with SUV's.

Not sure what co-op is in place in Lakeland, but the co-op that services Cape Coral, LCEC, is quite competitive with what they pay on the other side of the river in Ft Myers, that is serviced by FPL. I believe you can find rate information on their site....

LCEC
