My family is moving to Cape Coral this summer and I'm curious how bad the traffic is commuting between South Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Cape Coral fits our lifestyle better, but I assume I would have better luck finding a job in Fort Myers. Opinions?

It may back up a bit, more in season than summer. But I'm biased...I spent years crossing into NYC from NJ on the George Washington bridge...the last time paying $21 for the "privilege". Nothing that bad in a power of ten down here. Welcome!

Unless there is an accident, "rush hour" traffic might slow your commute by 5-10 minutes generally.

Thanks! I'm moving from MD so I am used to DC and Baltimore traffic. Anything less than 45 min will be great!

DC is so bad....we take I-81 now just to avoid it.CC to Ft Myers is a 10 minute ride unless there is an accident.

The commute won't be a problem but finding a job will be. Most of the jobs tend to be minimum wage and/or temporary, many in the leisure and hospitality sector. I saw an article a few months ago claiming that this area was the worst in the US for someone with a college degree to find a decent job. If you must work to support your lifestyle I suggest you line something up before you get here or be prepared to face an uphill battle in landing any meaningful work.

I am shocked at what I see as a lack of traffic. I don 't know if snowbirds are coming late. But During Christmas week there was hardly anyone. And today. I was over at bell tower. And it was empty

There are four bridges. The two lower bridges have a toll one way but are seldom "jammed up". Traffic
moves quite well, not like DC. The third bridge going north is the Hancock Bridge and is busier as it is free. Even that one will only add a few minutes to your commute mostly because of the lights. Now that the lowest bridge (Cape Coral Bridge) has the bypass lanes open you just fly through most of the time.
