My daughter and I are moving to Fort Lauderdale (Broward County) this summer. It is a last minute move, and now I must find an elementry school (immediately) for her. I am lost, worried and frustrated. She will be entering Kindergarden this fall, and was accepted to a exceptional, private school in our current city. Its a quaker school, so I was hoping to find something simular. Any suggestions? Even suggestions for next year would be greatly appreciated.

Quaker? Not is South Florida. But there are several very good private schools in the area. To stay on the non religious schools: University School, Pine Crest, American Heritage, and North Broward Prep. are considered the academically more challenging ones (there is another good one that I can not remember right now and this is really bothering me.) Summit Questa Montessori is better for early years, then it gets a little lost...

There are many religious schools as well, but with very good academic level in high school (St. Thomas Aquinas) more than in elementary years.

Sagemont is another non-religious school, as well as Imagine Charter School. The majority of good schools are in Weston, Davie, Parkland, Coral Springs, and Boca

Imagine Charter is not private. I currently have a child enrolled there. It is an excellent school and we have been very happy there. There was a lottery for new students already but any parents who are interested should contact the school to get on the waiting list.

Default Ever thought about the Blake School?

The Blake School in Plantation is one of the best private schools in Broward for K-8. Can't say enough about it. It is a Montessori school and my kids absolutely excelled there. And while they are not overtly religious, they say a very nice grace before every meal.
