Hi there. Great forum!
We are looking to move to Florida, for a job opportunity located in Sunrise. We are looking for a nice area to live/purchase a home, for a couple in their early 30's.

We presently have an hour commute where we live and obviously want to reduce that. We are looking for a nice area, with nice homes for middle class with pool, garage and some property. Any suggestions of places to look at? Is Palm Beach County too far? What would be the commute from Boca or Delray to Sunrise? Should we look North of Sunrise or South? I have looked at Weston, Davie, and many other areas and am having a hard time finding what we are looking for in a home...In addition I don't know what areas are good for a couple our age, that will be safe and will be a good fit.

Suggestions?

No kids. We don't want to spend more than $650k. We are active, and love boating. Looked at houses on the water/canal system and we just can't get what we are looking for in a house on the water, (that I can see) - 3/4 bed, 2/3 bath, 3 car garage, pool, and some property...
We presently live in the country, so having shopping right around the corner isn't imperative, however within a reasonable distance would be a nice change. We want to be relatively close to the water, and preferably in an area that won't rake us over for docking our boat...I am looking for good suggestions on places for that as well, if anyone has any?

Lauderdale Isles (off of Riverland Road east of 441) might have what you are looking for, although there are some areas nearby with questionable safety. Plantation Isles in Plantation might have a few homes on the canal system in that price range, and the surrounding area is (mostly) nicer. Weston is difficult to live in if you plan on keeping a boat on property, but you could look into Davie or Southwest Ranches if you don't mind being off the canal system, as these areas have neighborhoods without homeowners associations. As far as Boca/Delray, these areas are actually more expensive for dock access.

Plantation Isles seems like the best option. Going to PM you a house that seems to fit the bill for most part... 3/3, 3 CG, pool and canal.

You will not get the land in this area but you will get the water/boating piece - Coral Ridge area (between Sunrise Blvd and Oakland Park - east of 95 - find the Galleria Mall and start across the street.
