Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could get suggestions on a good town in Broward county I will be moving from TN.I may may most likely work in Miami my husband has accepted a job in Deerfield Beach. We have 4 children and would like a family oriented town. We have thought about Davie,What is the commute to Miami like from Davie? I will appreciate any thoghts or suggestions. What is the housing market like, we will want at least a 4 bedroom house.

I think the best town for families in Broward is Parkland. Rent first though. You can rent a 4 bedroom house for $2500-3500 with all the bells and whistles. And negotiate the terms of your lease, the landlords are hurting there and will look at any decent offer. Check the Realtor. com site under rentals.

I agree with the previous poster, but check out Coral Springs, Weston,Cooper City, and western Davie as well. All nice communities with low crime and nice housing, as well as top notch schools. All of these communities are VERY family friendly, but Weston and Parkland have a bit of a snooty attitude that west Davie, Cooper City, and Coral Springs does not have. Feel free to PM me about Davie, because I live on the border of it and can go ahead and let you on on the details of the very appealing community , as well as about surrounding communities.

To sum it up

Coral Springs- A little crowded, suburban, far commute to Miami, nice people(but very Northeastern in demographic), good schools, 10th safest city in the United States, long commute to Miami, about an hour but no traffic in Broward. Bad traffic once you are in Dade county.
Davie-Has a little bit of a rural flavor that you may like, city-country feeling, great schools in the Nova and Western areas. Diverse housing options ranging from mobile homes to estates with acreage. Low crime on the west half, a little higher east of University. Easier commute to Miami, just take 75 and its about 45 minutes in Miami traffic (gettting out of Broward is no issue)
Weston- Kind of snooty, but nice clean city with GREAT schools. Commute would be about the same to Miami, as Weston is just west of Davie.Practically no crime for a city of its size. Lots of families and professionals.
Parkland- Northeastern rude, very snooty, very affluent. Great schools. Smallish and has lots of green/trees. Very low crime. An hour to Miami, Broward is easy once again but your spending more time driving in Broward.
Cooper City- A lot like Davie, but more affluent/suburbanized, good schools, with a declining high school. Commute is similar to Davie/Weston.

Cooper City/Weston/the nice half of Davie presents a nice commuting compromise between Miami and Deerfield without sacrificing quality of life. Coral Springs/Parkland is really close to Deerfield, but you do have more of a drag to Miami.

These are all great communities, but I hope you have at least 2300 a month to spend on rent. Or 425k on a home.

I should also add that I am from NY, so when I say northeastern, I do not intend it as an insult. I just noticed that he/she was coming from TN so...yeah.

We have friends who live in Coral Springs with their yong daughter and just love it - great place for children and families - they live in an upscale community named Eagle Trace.

I live in Weston, but don't have children. I have lived here for 20 years. What kind of home are you looking for?

Default I live in Davie and I like it

I would personally not move to Weston and you can email me to ask me why

Parkland and Coral Springs would be a further commute if you were to work in Miami.

What price range are you interested in and what are your specifications for a house etc?

Plantation has a great sports program for the kids as does Cooper City. Davie is not as large but it does have those and some of the schools are not bad. I dont know the ages of your children.

I raised four children in Plantation and Davie.
