Hi all,
I will be relocating to Fort Collins from the Pittsburgh area for a job with HP starting in January. My husband has had many general labor type jobs but specifically he's been a steel worker for the last 10 years. I know there are no steel mills around FoCo, but I'm wondering what other types of industrial/manufacturing jobs there may be. He's very skilled with a crane and frequently makes use of fork trucks and other such things that I don't really know about because I myself am not a mill worker

I'm super pumped to be moving into the area! FoCo looks great!

Agreed with Mike, the oil fields are the hot job right now for anybody in industrial work, he should be able to find something for $60 K a year or more pretty quickly.

There are crane related jobs listed in Craigslist for FoCo/NoCo but the job titles shown don't always have the word crane in them, you just have to read them, like the one that says "12-hour production" which is a crane related job. The oil field work is looking for riggers to work around the cranes. Should be something here for him.

Warehouse jobs at Walmart / Budweiser / FSA (Yanceys) Distribution centers (East Ft Collins and close to HP). These jobs are lessor pay, but INDOORS! (when below zero like today...) .

Costco is coming to Harmony and I-25. It is a GREAT warehouse job with excellent benefits and decent pay
.

There are also some manufacturers / shipping / construction places in NoCo. Check with Vestas in Windsor.

I have 43 yrs @ HP... we used to have shipping Dept workers (and at one time HP was #2 employer in CO, only behind Public Service Utilities)!

Too bad you aren't in time to get the Maint job at HP's Hermit Park in Estes Park (driving a road grader to blade snow). Carly sold the HP park to the County (as well as many others around the world, including the Swiss Chalets I lived in while working for HP in Europe...)

If DH is certified as a 'Crane' operator he will be in BIG demand, and only have to work a few months / yr!!. (math / lifting / and safety certs). If he is not certified, and has many yrs of employment left... get him certified!
