My family is contemplating a move to Greeley and would like to know people's thoughts of living in that community. Initially we need to rent, so apartment recommendations (allowing pets) are welcome. Also welcome recommendations on other areas outside of Greeley. We enjoy hiking and an artistic diverse community. Thank you.

The big industry in Greeley is a meat packing slaughterhouse. It's low on the list of places I'd consider an artistic diverse community. It's also flat out there which makes hiking dull for some people. The area around the town is mostly cattle ranching / feedlots. Univ of Northern COLO is there, so you might find some artistic stuff, but Greeley isn't known as an artistic mecca by any means.

Tell us more about yourself and where you'll be working, etc, then we can zero in on places better suited to you.

Planning on attending UNC in the fall but wasn't aware of the "meat packing slaughterhouse" industry...

Suggestions on living "outside" the Greeley area (edited to add: such as Fort Collins, Loveland etc.) where we could enjoy an artistic diverse community, hiking etc. will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Windsor (15 miles) and Loveland (20 miles) are nearby and considered better choices. A number of threads on here about Windsor, Loveland and/or Greeley, so try our search tool with either term. If it's not a permanent move, Greeley might suffice just fine. You can use multiple keywords with the search tool, like Loveland hiking, etc.
