Our 2019 Expedition jumped out of gear on us between the 4-5 shift while pulling out of a gas station about a month ago. Made an awful grinding noise, and then stopped pulling. I pulled over, put the car in park, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. Put it back in drive, and it has not done this since. However, I have noticed that the 4-5 shift has a rather large delay and a bit of a jerk so I took it to the dealership to have a look.
We were told that there is a new TSB that addresses this issue, and it requires a partial disassembly of the transmission. The adaptive calibration apparently cannot adapt to hardware wear-in. The valve body has to be removed and overhauled. The dealer quoted us about a 2-3 day window to make the repair once the parts are available in September of 2022.
If any of you have ran into this issue, press your dealer about this TSB. The local Ford dealer told me there was no such thing, but the Lincoln dealer immediately told us about it and scheduled us in once the parts arrive.
I believe this is the 10-speed trans that is a GM/Ford partnership. It's also used on the Camaro ZL1, Chevy Tahoe, Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade, according to this site:

I guess you can't build a CVT that work with a vehicle of those weights so you need a 10 speed.
