Naturally there's a catch, and seeing how it's an Autoblog link (speaking of which, do you work for Autoblog or something?), I fear clicking the link to discover the catch will be a waste of time.
Doesn't seem to be any big catch, other than non stop, averaging 44mph at Bristol speedway. Real world mileage will obviously be a bit lower!
The V6 is quite peppy (only 10 less hp than last years GT), I test drove one a few weeks back, the +55hp, +37 ft lbs, and -300 or so pounds it has on my Charger were quite noticeable. I think Ford finally did the V6 stang justice.

The catch is that they were averaging ~43 mph. While it makes for a great soundbite, I'm sure most people would be interested in seeing fuel efficiency at an avg 65 or 76 mph.

Fine engineering at work is hardly something I would consider a "catch". If you really feared wasting your time then why bother clicking on this topic AND posting as well?

I clicked on the topic expecting something more substantive than a link to the Weekly World News of automotive websites, though I should probably know better by now from the OP. I commented because 1) I felt like it and you're not the arbiter of how I spend my time, and 2) to prompt more discussion on the topic, which it did.
If you thought my comment was such a waste of time, why'd you waste your time commenting on it? And as long as you're here, do you have anything constructive to add, or is your only contribution to waste your time admonishing me for wasting my time?
Traveling at the lowest speed possible in the highest gear will maximize mileage and is an interesting statistic but not a good indication of real world performance.
I have a sportscar that gets 8 mpg when raced on a road course, up to 35 mpg at a slow highway cruise, but averages about 22 mpg in daily use.
It is good to see the most efficient Mustang ever show what it can do.

Spoken like a child...
Anyhow, as to the OP.... I would like to see results from different speeds. I think at the least a 55mph test would be worth some value. They have already proved what it's capable of now some realistic cruising speed figures would be nice.

Isn't that what the city/highway ratings are for? Not that they're always correct.
