Makes my $4 airport hot dog sound like a bargain. But that was a few years back.

We are staying in a lovely place that has a kitchen, so I will be making most meals there. Thank you for the responses. We are going there for a nice vacation and to relax so eating fresh shrimp by the pool is a priority. Have a great day everyone. kelsie

$25.

I almost had a heart attack.

The guy behind us paid 10 or 15 for his pastry and tiny coffee.

That being said, I would never pay $20 for meatloaf.

go to walmart, buy a stryrofoam cooler, and get food for breakfast and lunch, bring a water heater, make tea, coffee, oatmeal, etc. in the room.

Honestly, I'd be hitting the grocery store too.

And $11 for water! OMG!
On my recent flight back in to the states (on a domestic carrier, mind you) I paid $28 for two turkey sandwiches, a can of Lays Stax, and a little baggie of trail mix. We were so hungry already since our flight was delayed and they weren't going to be serving anything unless we bought it - so we had to bite the bullet.

We just got back from the Berkshires this weekend and I was blown away at the price of dinner there. I live in NYS, and a much larger city than ANY of the small towns there. They wanted $25+ for dinner at the most rinky dink little dive places. It blew my mind. The towns are so small there and they dining establishments could be little holes in the wall, but they think they can charge an arm and a leg for dinner. I was shocked. And the pickings were slim if you didn't know where to look... My husband and I ended up tracking down a local college kid and asking her where she went for dinner and drove there... it wasn't ritzy or romantic... but we enjoyed our meal and didn't feel like we were ripped off. When in doubt, ask the locals... they know better than anyone.

I checked a review for Little Palm Island, right outside of KW and the reviewer said, dinner for 2 without alcohol and before tip, average $200.00. ROFLAO again. Thank you, kelsie
I highly recommend (if it is still there) BO's Fishwagon. We asked the locals where to find the best fried fish sandwich. It took a while to find the place-kinda resembles Fred Sanford's junkyard, but is actually an open-dining restaurant. Everyone agreed it was the best fish sandwich they had, resonably priced and with a quirky ambiance.(except me-I discovered that I still don't like fried fish, regardless how fresh it is). I enjoyed feeding my fish to the chickens passing by.
