Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, this brings up an interesting question. The market for canned yams in the United States has historically been a duopoly between Princella and Bruce's.
In September, Del Monte has sold its Sager Creek subsidiary (owner of the Princella brand of yams) to McCall Farms (owner of Bruce's Yams). Could this lead to the discontinuation of Princella brand yams in favor of Bruce's? I don't see why would they keep both brands, since I am pretty sure Bruce's outsells Princella.
A better question is whether or not it will matter.
Also, I don't eat canned yams, but regionally where I am, from my grocery shopping observations, only Princella is available. Bruce's is not carried at all. FWIW.

I've never bought, or eaten canned yams, but I believe it's just the opposite here. I know all the stores carry Bruce's, Princella does not sound familiar at all.
Just looked at the Thanksgiving grocery ad. Princella is labeled cut sweet potatoes and Bruce is labeled cut yams. I have read that the yellow fleshed tubers labeled yams are really sweet potatoes. Fresh are cheaper per lb. now. Plus they're fresh. So win - win!
I was in Publix today and the only brand I noticed was Bruce's...very unscientific...lol
