We never have but I was wondering if anyone else has done this. I like stove top as a side on occasion but when it comes to Turkey's only homemade stuffing will do.

It seems a perfectly good waste of a turkey to squander it on boxed stuffing mix IMHO. If a person doesn't know how, or is too lazy maybe they should just pass on the attempt to make a turkey dinner. I don't mean to offend anybody or for that to sound snotty or anything, just that when you go to all the time and effort to cook a turkey I couldn't imagine not going "all the way" and making it a real feast. Kind of like taking a bath and then putting your dirty clothes back on - what was the point?

I go to the opposite extreme, make my own cornbread and white bread for the stuffing.

That is for you and for me, but my ex-wife and her family would only eat Stove top. That is their choice and they can eat what they like. That is the point--eat whatever you like.

No, I think Stove Top tastes fake and not very good. But Pepperidge Farm is really good and I usually use that as a base for my dressing.

I think Stove top is way to salty. I do used a prepackaged stuffing though, Pepperidge Farms. It comes out GOOOOOOOD!

HERESY!!!

BURN THE WITCH!!

{ahem}

I mean, no. Nevernevernever. As a matter of fact, this year I'm making the bread for the stuffing rather than using commercial cubes.

Yup....cornbread dressing. That's the only kind I know how to make and I only make it on Thanksgiving. The bad thing is I only know how to make a huge amount of it because that's the way I always saw Mama do it - I really have to struggle to cut the recipe down for just the two of us. Actually, there's no recipe - I just put my stuff in like Mama used to do - in way smaller amounts. I do make my own cornbread (not the sweet stuff from a mix) and it makes all the difference!!! Ummmm.....

I love Stove Top. My mother always tried to make stuffing, but it was always terrible compared to Stove Top.
